Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization (ASAM) established in 1995, is an independent, impartial and non-profit association to assist all vulnerable groups within Türkiye, including refugees and asylum seekers.  ASAM focuses on cross cutting issues of the vulnerable individuals and communites in order to achieve its main vision, where vulnerabilities transform into strengths, and every individual enjoys a life of dignity, security, equity and opportunity.

ASAM Greece, established in 2016 as a representative office of ASAM in Athens, registered as a local NGO with the mandate of capitalizing on ASAM’s background and track record for the benefit of the refugees, migrants and other vulnerable individuals of the country.

Within the framework of our ongoing/upcoming project, we are looking for a teammate for the role of “Psychologist” to be assigned full time basis with one year-contract in ASAM Greece in Athens with the following qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing psychosocial counseling to vulnerable groups.
  • Making referrals to psychiatrists when necessary.
  • Filling out psychological state assessments, preparedness forms, and incident reports.
  • Evaluating the counseling needs of vulnerable groups by considering their social circumstances and focusing on their specific vulnerabilities.
  • Identifying the needs of communities and other vulnerable groups, providing assistance, establishing priorities, and supporting the development of self-help groups.
  • Organizing and facilitating confidence-building activities to strengthen community resilience.
  • Supporting vulnerable groups in improving their situation and developing their skills by building relationships with local authorities and community organizations.
  • Organizing activities for vulnerable groups, reporting the results, and planning future activities based on the outcomes.
  • Ensuring coordination with public institutions and assisting single or unaccompanied vulnerable individuals by involving civil society actors in planning and implementation processes.
  • Filing evaluations and reporting outputs for documentation and follow-up purposes.

General Qualifications:

  • Degree in psychology and having license to work as a psychologist
  • Fluency in Greek and English (knowing Arabic or French is an asset)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in providing psychosocial support or counseling (Fieldwork experience, e.g., in camps or temporary settlements is an asset)
  • Familiarity with issues facing vulnerable groups, including refugees and asylum seekers
  • Adherence to and promotion of CP and GBV guiding principles
  • Strong organizational, reporting, and communication skills,
  • Ability to work in a team and coordinate with various stakeholders, including public institutions and NGOs,
