Awareness Raising on Mental Health Psycho-Social Support for the Refugees Living in Türkiye

The “Awareness Raising on Mental Health Psycho-Social Support
(MHPSS) for the Refugees Living in Türkiye Project” is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Works are conducted simultaneously in 8 project provinces, designated as İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Konya, Adana and Samsun.

The overall objective of this Project is to raise awareness of the refugee and asylum seeker population in Türkiye through MHPSS materials and instruments, and also to support and enhance the wellbeing of the refugees and asylum seekers. It has been aimed to attach significance to representing in particular women, children, victims of gender-based violence, and persons with disabilities in the target population of the Project.

Research

A needs assessment has been conducted within the Project to identify the needs of refugees and asylum seekers in the field of MHPSS.

Contents have been generated to raise awareness in the area of MHPSS based on the needs identified through the needs assessment carried out within the Project. Psychologists, social workers, protection officers and child protection officers specialized in their own fields have contributed to the preparation of these contents. SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Organization of Seminars and Workshops on Issues Related to MHPSS

As the final stage of the awareness raising activities, it is planned to organize group sessions, seminars and panels. Therefore, four separate MHPSS group sessions will first be organized, ensuring the participation of at least 15 individuals from each vulnerable group in each of the project provinces, including women and girls at risk, victims of sexual and gender-based violence, male adolescents and children.
